As the name suggests, Webmaster Tools is something that many webmasters use to create and monitor their websites. While it isn’t the only tool in existence, it is one of the more popular ones, in no small part because it is supported by Google and is considered easy to learn, offering options for advanced webmasters and new webmasters.
The goal of a site is always going to be popularity, so that site can attract more visitors, and in order to get popularity the site needs to have a high ranking so that it shows up on web searches. There are a number of different things which can cause a site to fall lower in web searches though, but fortunately Webmaster Tools does have a feature which allows webmasters to be notified about any links that are causing problems.
As previously mentioned, there are a number of different things which could be causing problems. Webmaster Tools does allow for webmasters to get notified, but only so many example links can be included in one message. It would just be unreasonable to include a huge list of links stating what the problem is for each one. Even if the problems are similar, it would just be too overwhelming to try and decipher a message that was filled with links.
Instead, webmasters will get more generalized messages which will include a few example links. As the links are fixed, they might get notified about other links that are causing problems. The idea though is that as webmasters are informed they will take the initiative to look at their other pages and correct mistakes. Sometimes it really is just is a few pages that are the problem though, and if that’s the case the message should reflect this, or at the very least there won’t be any future follow up messages.
